Temple of Poseidon
Only 20 km from our guest house south towards Cape Sounion, you will find the impressive Temple of Poseidon.
Built in 444 BC – at the same time as the Parthenon – it is constructed of local marble and it's still gleaming white when viewed from afar. Best time to visit is early in the morning, to avoid the big crowd and maybe make a day of it visiting the local fish taverns and beautiful beaches, or just before sunset. You will be well rewarded with the stunning views.
HOURS: 8am-sunset in summer, from 9.30 am in winter.
Archaeological Museum of Lavrion
The Archaeological Museum of Lavrion is situated at the north entrance to the town. It was built in 1970, but inaugurated as a museum only in 1999.
